Among curios and mementos: the vintage market of Gradisca

Are you passionate about vintage things, copper pots or maybe games of the 1980s that are now almost impossible to find? Well, the ideal place for you is the flea market in Gradisca d'Isonzo, one of the “Borghi più belli d’Italia” (Most beautiful villages in Italy), which is held every third Sunday of the month.

In the large Spianata Park and in Viale Regina Elena, right in the centre, 200 exhibitors can be found from all over Friuli-Venezia Giulia, but also from Veneto, Emilia Romagna, Austria, Slovenia and Croatia, with objects for all tastes and all budgets.

Having arrived early, with a clear idea of what to look for, we find ourselves immersed in this huge bazaar, where we wanted to take home everything. The most admired curiosities are old tin signs, carpenter’s benches, cameras from the 1950s, models, electric appliances and toys.
We would like an old typewriter but we soon learn that at least twenty stalls have one. The very helpful and informed stall owners show us one and describe it in much detail, even out of mere curiosity.

In the end, we find the vintage one we want, haggle a little over the price and it is ours, after having bought a very unexpected treasure that will furnish our home.
