From the historic town of Kobarid, a challenging route that climbs from one of the most renowned centers of the Great War to the lush tranquility of the alpine pastures.
Part of the Austro-Hungarian territory until the First World War, but already occupied the day after the declaration of war by the Royal Italian Army, Kobarid went down in history as the symbol of the action that led to the Italian retreat to the Piave line during the Twelfth Battle of the Isonzo (October 24 - November 9, 1917). Its historic center and immediate surroundings indelibly preserve the memory of the Great War. After visiting the town, the stage climbs through evocative lands, following paths and small roads that, touching some small villages here and there, finally lead to the lush and unspoiled nature of the pasture areas.
It is recommended to visit the "Walk of Peace" Visitor Center and walk the Kobarid Historical Trail
