Short hike that "justifies" the long drive up the daring Vette Panoramica road. Mount Crostis offers an unparalleled view of Mount Coglians, the highest peak in Friuli Venezia Giulia.
The hike begins from the parking lot along the Panoramica delle Vette near the access road to Rifugio Chiadinas (1934 m), where we hook the trail marker for trail 151. The trail climbs without too much of a climb along the southern slope of Crostis; after the first ascent, we cross a grassy basin and then gain elevation to a junction (2110 m, on the left we can deviate two hundred meters to the top of a small panoramic hump (2116 m). The route to Mount Crostis, on the other hand, bends sharply to the north and takes up the ridge leading to the summit. The trail is never difficult and in about 40 minutes of walking we are on the summit of Mount Crostis (2250 m); cross and summit book, spectacular northward view. We return by the route of the ascent.
Having the desire to hike the Panoramica delle Vette in the dark, this short trip is recommended for sunset time: little effort uphill, and little descent to do with a headlamp.
