Ski mountaineering: Malga Rauna

Start height: 820 m
Finish height: 1515 m
Duration: 3 hours
Distance: 4 km
Level of difficulty: easy
Exposure: South

Marking conditions: Marked

Always check the avalanche report before starting the tour.

CHARACTERISTICS:
The route stretches mostly in the wood and is an easy first approach to tours on snow-covered ground. The low height may be a problem in case of little snow. Most of the climb is on a cartroad with hairpin bends, which with no steep stretches leads out of the wood.

From the car park near the upper part of the town of Valbruna and the Austrian War Cemetery follow the cartroad that in summer is marked with number 607. The wide hairpin bends allow to climb up the slope until getting to a height of about 1470 metres. From here follow the rise and you will soon reach the hut.
