Imagine the sunlight at sunset. Can you? Can you feel the light breeze ruffling your hair? So, now think of a holiday farm surrounded by the greenery of the beautiful Friulian countryside. Perfect, just right! This is the place where I had the first Yoga lesson in my life.
Although Agriturismo Albafiorita is situated a few kilometres from the nightlife of Lignano Sabbiadoro, connected to the main road by a short dirt track, it is a gem set in nature. On entering the driveway by car, you see that a small haven of peace and relaxation awaits us. And what more can you want in order to stop thinking about the past and the future and focus on "Here and Now", one of the basic principles of this discipline?
Despite worrying about being attacked by insects, after all being in close contact with nature also means this, we are welcomed by the youngsters of the farm with spray repellents and bottles of water to protect us from the summer heat.
The lesson begins and the teacher, Alessandra, proves to be very expert and attentive to the needs and different levels of all the participants. Listening and concentrating on your own breath, eliminating thoughts of daily life, becomes very simple thanks to her practical advice.
At the end of the short Yoga session, we return to the portico, where we find Dino, one of the owners, ready to offer us some refreshments including excellent wines from the wine cellar and generous dishes of cold cuts and cheeses. A delight for the eyes and the palate.
With some engaging explanations that are never boring, Dino tells us the story of the holiday farm and the wines offered, including some very interesting technical details for people who know little about the sector.
This the end to a very pleasant evening, made unique by combining a “sport”, intended to bring peace and wellbeing, with tasting products from the region of Friuli.
I have worked in tourism for many years and travelling is still one of my greatest passions, along with hikes surrounded by nature, reading and good food paired with a good glass of wine.
As curious and enthusiastic as a child, I never stop looking for places and experiences, in my land, still unknown to me.
