The Napoleonic Battle in Porcia with re-enactors from all over Europe!

Every 2 years at the end of April, the historical re-enactment of the Napoleonic Battle takes place in Porcia, with plenty of novelties and surprises. The re-enactment always attracts the attention of a large audience, attentive and interested in this kind of event.

The last edition saw the involvement for the first time of the town of Valvasone-Arzene, with a battle that took place on the gravelly riverbed of the river Tagliamento on the Saturday. There were almost three hundred historical re-enactors from all over Italy, as well as many from abroad, in particular from Belgium, Austria, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Russia.

The re-enactors, who are thoroughly acquainted with the Napoleonic era, camped at Villa Correr-Dolfin in Porcia, sleeping in tents and on makeshift beds, fully embracing the spirit of that period. The surprises included General Bonaparte impersonated by the American Mark Schneider, renowned since 1998 for being the commander's double on battlefields.

On the Sunday, in Porcia, the French-Italian army on one side and the Habsburg army on the other re-enacted, to the sound of gunshots and cannons, the battle of Camolli, fought in the territories of Friuli on 16 April 1809.
