A cycling route through the eastern hills, offering the ideal setting for a prestigious wine route, an unmissable experience between nature and history.
Route
This loop starts from the UNESCO city of Cividale del Friuli, borders the Bosco Romagno, the small valley of the Judrio river between Prepotto and Dolegna del Collio and the border with Slovenia. The entire territory is dedicated to wine production and is dotted with wineries and farms interspersed with small churches and villages. For the more curious, a detour to the hamlet of Albana is worthwhile, where among wineries and ancient houses the castle tower peeks out.
Food & wine
Among sliced cold cuts, the Friulian salami is the main product, considered since ancient times the best way to preserve pork meat. We suggest pairing it with Schioppettino di Prepotto, with its popping grapes on the palate, as the name of this fine red wine suggests. RECOMMENDED DISH: Mixed platter of cold cuts and cheeses, or tagliatelle with game sauce.
Remember to check the opening hours of the wineries.
