A countryside ride to discover the lower Friuli area, among cultivated lands, spring-fed rivers, rural villages and ancient villas.
The route develops on the strip of land between the village of Marano Lagunare and the spring area of Codroipo. From San Giorgio di Nogaro, an industrial port of the Upper Adriatic, you pedal towards Carlino, where the lowland woods serve as a prelude to the nearby Marano lagoon. Continuing towards Muzzana, it is worth visiting the Church of the Martyrs Gervasius and Protasius before entering the Friulian countryside. After passing Rivarotta and Pocenia, a stop is recommended in the equipped area next to the church in the small village of Chiarmacis. In Ariis, an interesting place from a naturalistic point of view, you find the Regional Aquarium and the Ottelio Savorgnan Villa with its park: it seems this villa was the setting for the love story that inspired Shakespeare in the composition of Romeo and Juliet. You return to San Giorgio di Nogaro after passing through the villages of Paradiso and Porpetto.
