The cycle and pedestrian path is fully protected. For the first 5 kilometres it is asphalted, then it is unpaved, with a 3% gradient. The start is near the car park in Via Gramsci, in the San Giacomo district of Trieste. The route is dedicated to Giordano Cottur, an important Triestine cyclist. In the first section we pedal through the town centre to continue towards Val Rosandra, a naturalistic jewel that offers spectacular views between the Gulf of Trieste and the Karst. Draga Sant'Elia is the arrival point, a small village before the state border. The route retraces the former railway that connected the Trieste - Campo Marzio station with that of Herpelje-Erpelle (in Slovenia). You return along the same route, it is all downhill!
