Stage no.7 of the MADE Trek route is part of a 200 km cross-border itinerary that runs along the Carnic Ridge, connecting Italian and Austrian mountain huts and refuges.
From Watschiger Alm at 1625 m, follow trail marker 403 uphill, near the ski slopes, to Garnitzentörl at 1856 m, then descend to Garnitzenalm. The path cuts across the right side of the valley with a gentle descent and connects to a forest road leading to Sella della Spalla at 1439 m. Entering Italian territory and a little lower, leave the forest road to continue along the left side at altitude (trail marker 403) until reaching the forested small valley, which, when ascended, leads to Sella Zille at 1498 m. Returning to Austria, continue along a forest road (trail marker 403) that first runs at altitude and then descends to Egger Alm at 1422 m. A comfortable dirt road (trail marker 403) leads east to Dellacher Alm. At the junction before the mountain hut, take the road on the right, always following trail marker 403. After crossing the wooded ridge of Poludnig, trail 403 leaves the road and descends to Kesselwald Bach, then ascends on the opposite side of the valley. Trail 403 then climbs via forest road to Görtschacher Alm and continues on path to the flat ridge (elevation 1866 m) between the peaks of Monte Sagran and Starhand. The path descends steeply through the woods towards the Wirtshaus Starhard located near Sella di Lom at 1460 m. Crossing the border on a comfortable forest road, descend shortly to Rifugio Nordio-Deffar at 1406 m.
