Panoramic loop starting from the inn "Al Camoscio" along the slopes of Mt. Cocco and Cima Bella.
Easy hike that takes place on the gentle slopes bordering Austria, suitable for all seasons and capable of providing ever-changing and exciting views.
Highlights of the hike are the wide mountain pastures rich in flora, the grazing livestock to pay attention to and approach with respect (remember to keep dogs on a leash) and the incredible views ranging from peaks from Mount Lussari and Mangart to Jof Fuart, Montasio even to the Carnic heights to the west and the Austrian chain with the imposing Grossglockner silhouetted on the northern horizon.
Along the way, several evidences of past iron-manganese mining activity can be seen, including the Monte Cocco Mining Village. In fact, it is believed that these mines were already in use in Roman times while mining continued, on and off, until the late 1940s.
Please note that a ticket is in effect during the summer period for the use of the road that goes up to the Malghe di Ugovizza, the start of the hike. Useful point of support is Agriturismo Rosic, open year-round.
Derived from the technical difficulty and the stamina requirements.
Along the loop there are no water sources; in case of particularly hot days consider having an adequate amount of water resources with you. In case you want to face the hike in the winter period with snow-covered terrain, remember the need to use the artva - shovel - probe kit and consult the ARPA FVG snow report, and be aware of the countless ski mountaineers who frequent the route.
It is possible to do the loop in both directions and also to limit oneself to only one of the proposed peaks. Wanting to greatly simplify the route, it is recommended to reach only the summit of Mt. Cocco.
Normal hiking equipment, depending on the season.
