Dog walking in Fagagna, in the green Friuli hills

“Woof, friends! Here I am, your red-coated Drover. Today I want to tell you about the dog walking held in “my” Fagagna, because that’s whereI live, and who better than I to talk about it, then? The Sunday chosen for the outing was beautiful with a perfect blue sky! From the large parking area in ??Piazza Unità d'Italia we set out on our walk: an incredible line of dogs and people, like a colourful snake, began to climb the old cobblestone road (vicolo Morcjùte and via Cecconaia) towards the Castle, of which remains of an old tower transformed into a bell tower, the remains of the bastion, the central tower and the fourteenth-century church of San Michele. From up here the view was beautiful: the eye swept over the hills,  with a buzzard calling as it used the upward currents and circled above our heads, and a green woodpecker with its undulating flight and its crazy laughter passing a short distance away. After going back down towards the square, we headed towards the Cjastenâr Park, a natural recreational public park, very well equipped with games for children, footpaths and a good fitness section; ideal for a relaxing walk! Here on the hill, in the shade of an immense cedar, we also took a souvenir photo. But that’s not all, as there are many reasons to come and visit Fagagna! First of all, it is part of the Club of “The Most Beautiful Villages of Italy” (there are 11 in Friuli Venezia Giulia!) and you may not know that we also have the Quadris bird sanctuary, where the white stork was reintroduced and where the hermit ibis is protected. It is not unusual to be welcomed to Fagagna by some stork flying free in the sky! Also worth a visit is the Museo della vita contadina di Cjase Cocèl, housed in a beautiful old rural house dating back to 1600, which tells the daily life and the farm work of Friuli from the late nineteenth century up to the 1950s: it's great! Wandering through the reconstructed rooms, the kitchen, the rooms, the barn, the farmyard... we seem to go back into the past and, thanks to the presence of participants who do various tasks using the tools of the past, you immerse yourself in a unique atmosphere. So what are you waiting for? Come to Feagne (Fagagna in the Friulian language), to spend a peaceful day in the green hills of central Friuli!

My passions: tourism, dogs and foreign languages. I mix and mingle them to create new projects. I’m very patient; if I weren’t I couldn’t have a beagle and with him have founded the Dog Walker Club for exploring FVG at the natural, slow pace of our four-legged friends. Favourite saying: "Perros compañeros, no de compañia".
