The
Postal and Telegraphical museum of
Trieste, located in the historical Palazzo delle Poste (Post Office building) in Trieste, witnesses the
evolution of postal services from mid-19th century to present times.
The exhibition is subdivided into various sections:
the post, with relics and documents from Austrian times to modern ages;
the telegraphy, with telegraphic machinery and equipment of different ages and types;
the postal cartography, with historical maps of the postal routes; the military post, with the complete equipment for a camp post office. An octagonal structure hosts the reconstruction of a late 19th century post office.
Lastly, worthy of mention are the collections of
postal history and philatelics, which periodically alternate.
