Talmassons
The name of the town of Talmassons probably derives from the Latin word 'mans', large plots of land given by the Roman consuls to the old soldiers who had fought in the wars for the imperial expansion.
Two necropolises were found - an incineration necropolis and an inhumation necropolis - and a small settlement has come to light near St. Sylvester's cemetery church.
The many waterways that cross the territory have always characterized the landscape and, in the past centuries, performed important social and economic functions.
Talmassons provides many walks, horse riding and mountain-bike tours along itineraries where one can enjoy unspoilt natural landscapes and the charming flowing of the waters of the streams and rivers, as well as the possibility to taste the typical local products at the trattorie, inns and farm restaurants.
Talmassons also features an astronomical observatory, which was recently built to carry out scientific activities as well as to be enjoyed by astronomy enthusiasts.
