Porpetto
The history of Porpetto is like that of the other villages of Friuli.
The area was many times invaded by Barbaric populations who plundered and sacked the villages killing many people.
In 967 Emperor Otto I gave part of the actual area of Porpetto to the Patriarch Rodoaldo. In 1301, thanks to the Patriarch Popone, the Parish Church of Porpetto ruled over the two villages of San Giorgio and Gonars.
Later it became so powerful that over 14 villages of the area were subdue to it.
After the falling of the Patriarchate, Porpetto's area passed under the judicial power of the Bishop of Gorizia.
