Enemonzo
Enemonzo is one of Carnia's oldest settlements. Evidence of this is provided by some ancient finds that date back to the Stone Age. It is also well-known for its cheeses, to which a traditional festival is dedicated in September. Owing to its position, in the heart of the Tagliamento Valley, it is the ideal starting point to discover the surrounding towns.
In Enemonzo don't miss a visit to the Santi Ilario e Taziano church, one of the oldest in Carnia. Very interesting are also some churches in the hamlets, which sometimes preserve some real artistic masterpieces. For example, in the fifteenth-century San Giorgio church in Colza you can admire a sixteenth-century wooden altar attributed to Francesco Floreani's workshop and a cycle of frescoes by Pietro Fuluto (1513).
The municipal territory is part of the Intermunicipal Park of the Carnic Hills, an area of great environmental value, at the confluence of the Degano stream with the Tagliamento river. The area is characterized by gentle, sunny rises covered in wide grasslands and blooming woods, where one can go on easy hikes and mountain bike and horse riding tours all year round.
Near Enemonzo, along the course of the Tagliamento, you will find the Centro Volo Nord Est, an airfield for gliders provided with a runway having a length of 520 metres and a width of 70 metres and a hangar for housing aircraft.
