Monte Flop is divided into two summits: the East summit at 1715 m and the West summit at 1792 m, connected by a gentle ridge traversed by a beautiful trail offering panoramic views of Val Alba and all the surrounding mountains.
Reachable via the trail ascending from the Grauzaria refuge, the summit destination of the hike is a place rich in flora and fauna in front of the magnificent walls of Monte Sernio and Creta della Grauzaria, historic peaks well known to climbers for their historical frequenting.
The ascent passes through very different environments, from the pine forest to high-altitude meadows, encountering countless plant species such as gentians and orchids.
The panorama unfolds among the peaks of the Sernio and Grauzaria group then opening to the heights of Zermula, Creta di Aip, Cavallo di Pontebba, and the Julian Alps all in wide and impressive views.

    Safety information

Do not undertake this hike in uncertain weather (the upper part is exposed to lightning and the steep terrain can become very slippery when raining) or on icy ground.

The upper section of the route, especially to reach the summit of Monte Flop, requires sure-footedness and absence of vertigo in some points.

Water sources along the loop are almost absent; on particularly hot days consider carrying an adequate amount of water supply.

    Tips and suggestions

The summit of Monte Flop West is reachable by a track from the saddle between the two if you want to add this climb to the hike.
If you want to simplify the exit, you can reach the Grauzaria refuge, continue to Foran da Gjaline, and close the short loop of the Gjaline trail there, returning via the access trail.
