Aquileia is like an enormous treasure chest full of jewels. When you open it, you find something new or that you didn’t know you had. I found many surprises, walking through the archaeological excavations also in my last visit.
Next to the episcopal building, the Domus of Titus Macro was recently found: an exceptional residence both for its size, about 1700 square metres, and for the structure, which includes an uncovered internal garden, typical of milder climates. Its reconstruction, by the Aquileia Foundation, is innovative: the excavations have been covered with a wooden structure with tiles inspired by those in use at the time, supported by Pompeian red steel pillars to give the illusion of the columns. The visitor has the impression of walking in an authentic Roman Domus.
I was born in Trieste, some years ago. Not too many but I would say the right number.
I love nature, the sea, the mountains, travelling, films, art, theatrical performances, and telling stories...
So, let's use images and words to tell you about this beautiful region of ours, because being here is already a little like being on holiday.
