This part of the route is characterised above all by nature, where the emerald-green waters of the Soča River merge with the unspoilt expanse of the Triglav National Park, the only National Park in Slovenia. Visitors can therefore fully enjoy the beauty and natural environment of this area when travelling along this route. In fact, climbing steadily up towards Trenta, among the slopes of the Julian Alps, woods, green meadows and breathtaking views, hikers are immersed in an environment of pastures where the culture and traces of the Great War still present in the area seem to speak a soft and whispered language that does not disturb the wonder and unspoilt nature.
Author’s recommendation
The Čelo Outdoor Museum of the Great War is located near Bovec, on the slopes of Mount Svinjak.
The remains of a church dedicated to the victims of the "Planina Zagreben" sector are located in the Lepena Valley.
In Trenta, there is an interesting Visitor Centre of the Julian Alps Transboundary Ecoregion as well as the Trenta Museum.
