Stage that, detaching from the Nova Gorica area, leads to immerse oneself in an environment extremely interesting both from a historical and naturalistic point of view: the Karst front.
It takes off together with the homonymous Italian stages of what could be a multi-day loop route within the Walk of Peace: this route takes the hiker to leave behind the urban environment of Gorizia/Gorica and Nova Gorica, cities symbolizing a renewed peace and community among peoples, and head south along the Karst territory which, due to its own geological formation, was particularly suitable for building fortifications. In these areas, therefore, one can glimpse traces of the Great War, marking a different terrain, but no less rich in charm than the Alpine or Collio areas. Here there are also some important museums and monuments, such as the Peace Monument of Cerje, a panoramic point on the edge of the Karst escarpment.
Near Bukovica, there is an Austro-Hungarian military cemetery.
