Tagliamento

A great European river

We don’t mean to boast: but the Tagliamento river is of truly extraordinary beauty, perhaps the most beautiful river that many of you will ever see.
It has a vast riverbed with numerous water channels which flow and intertwine, producing a spectacular view. However, what makes it truly exceptional is the ecosystem that it still preserves and that makes it perhaps the last great “natural” river in Europe.
In its 170 km of length, it crosses the Alps and the hills of Friuli, leaving large pebbles in the Magredi lands of the high plain. It reaches the resurgence lands of the low plain and finally contributes to feeding the lagoon. Over the millennia, it has marked the morphology of the entire region, and over the centuries, it has conditioned the life and work of its communities, it has determined the birth of fortified villages and towns, and witnessed wars and battles
Along its course, you will meet some of the most beautiful historic towns in the region. Finally, it is a favourite destination for fans of water sports, such as canoeing and rafting, and air sports, such as hang gliding.
