The “Green Route” in Aiello del Friuli connects villages, countryside, and springs between Joannis and Novacco, passing by historic villas, tree-lined paths, and sundials.
The “Green Route” links the most significant places of Aiello del Friuli and Joannis. The starting point is in Joannis, near the parish church of Saint Agnes. After a short stretch on an asphalt road, passing in front of some Austro-Hungarian era villas, you reach Villa Ines, next to which a path unfolds crossing the Aiello countryside. Part of the route is completely covered by trees, to the point that this section is called “the Gallery.” It then leads to the start of the unpaved road that allows you to reach the village of Novacco.
Continuing, you reach the road that connects Strassoldo with Joannis. You cross it and follow it for about fifty meters, paying particular attention to the rather heavy traffic. Then you take a country lane which, after about twenty minutes of walking, allows you to reach the “groi,” a place among springs and cultivated fields.
You reach the main road between Privano and Joannis at the height of the Medieval Centa. Then, soon reaching the sidewalk, you return to the church of Saint Agnes.
Sundials, which have characterized the area for several decades, can be seen almost everywhere.
