Stage no. 8 of the MADE Trek route is part of a 200 km cross-border itinerary that follows the Carnic Crest at altitude, connecting Italian and Austrian mountain huts and refuges.
From Rifugio Nordio-Deffar at 1406 m, follow trail CAI 507 and climb up to Sella Bistriza and Feistritzer Alm at 1725 m, both located under the southern slope of Monte Osternig. From here, heading south along the border line (trail markers CAI 403-507), you reach the Madonna della Neve chapel and then descend to Sella Pleccia. From the saddle, climb again for about one hundred meters up to Achomitzeralm. From the mountain hut, follow trail 508 which crosses the western slope of Monte Acomizza, then descend south to the forest hut of Cima Muli. From here continue descending along a steep forest dirt road (still trail markers CAI 508) towards Camporosso. Just above the village, leave the dirt road and follow a trail that descends directly into the village. Passing by the old cross-country ski school building and crossing under State Road 13 via an underpass, you reconnect under a highway viaduct with the Alpe Adria Radweg cycling path. Follow the cycle path to the left up to near the starting station of the Monte Lussari cable car at 810 m, from where, following the asphalt road, you quickly reach the houses of Lussari. Here begins the forest track that follows the ancient pilgrim trail (CAI 613) and climbs all along the Rio Lussari valley up to the Malga Lussari pasture at 1573 m. From the mountain hut, the trail continues through the forest to the right of the ski slopes until it reaches the village and the Sanctuary of Monte Santo di Lussari situated at 1775 m.
