Created thanks to the action of man,
Lake Tramonti, also known as
Lake Redona, is now an integral part of a territory of deep valleys, steep slopes where there is relatively no human intervention, and widespread surface water flowing from the mountains down to the Adriatic Sea.
In these areas, a short distance from the main lake of Tramonti, two other basins built for hydroelectric purposes are nestled between the mountains:
Lake Cà Selva and
Lake Cà Zul.
Of the three reservoirs, Lake Tramonti is certainly the most accessible and is an ideal recreational destination for families, as it is only a short distance from the Val Tramontina Regional Road, which passes through it and invites visitors to take a peaceful break on its shores or the many pleasant lakeside locations.
Waters that descend from those emerald pools that are internationally recognised as the epitome of purity and freshness, the same ones that feed the Redona basin located a little further downstream from the village of Tramonti.
Sport fishing is practised in the lake, and numerous itineraries suggest relaxing
walks along the shores or a
bicycle ride up the valley and perhaps, even more, conquering the elevated Rest Pass on the edge of Carnia.
