The Cadorna house-cabin is located on Mt. Castellazzo, one of the many hills on the Karst around Doberdò del Lago. The house was built in 1916 (later restored in 1977) at 106 metres ASL on a road on the Karst that was first used by the Austro-Hungarians and then by the Italians, following the advance of the frontline to the east during the Sixth Battle of the Isonzo. It was dedicated to General Cadorna following a visit he paid to his troops in this place, as he thought it to be an absolutely safe location.
To reach this site, you can cycle or walk from Doberdò and follow CAI trail No. 77; the trail ends near the lake. If you look carefully, you can spot several military installations along the road, especially walkways and army posts. After around 2 kilometres, you will arrive at Cadorna House; here, you can enjoy beautiful views of Doberdò Lake and the Karst around Trieste (especially the Mt. Ermada line).
