Lutherie is the art of designing, building and restoring bowed string instruments.
The town of Tolmezzo in Carnia, which was elected Alpine Town of the Year in 2017, is also home to a prestigious violin workshop: the one belonging to the Rossitti brothers, which was founded by Giuseppe, a master carpenter who, over time, became known throughout the world for his exquisite violins.
Giuseppe's art and tradition have now been handed down to his son Gilberto, who creates and restores string instruments with passion and commitment, following their creation and manufacture from start to finish: starting with the choice of wood, mainly from resonant fir trees growing in the forests of Upper Carnia, to the varnishing and fitting of the strings and the aesthetic components.
