Not everyone knows that Prato Carnico, one of Italy's authentic villages perched in a peaceful green valley at the foot of the Pesarine Dolomites and renowned for its watchmaking tradition, is also home to a small workshop specialising in the restoration of musical instruments and the production of custom-built harpsichords, pianos and electric guitars, manufactured with technical innovation in terms of materials and workmanship that guarantee a high standard of quality.
The woodworking skills, handed down from generation to generation, combined with a passion for music, led Michele and Alessandro Leita to learn the art of harpsichord making from Maestro Giovanni Canciani in Paularo and to establish a unique business in Prato Carnico that is dedicated to the creation and restoration of musical instruments while maintaining their original characteristics in both their operation and aesthetics.
A world record has been set by the Leita workshop in the manufacture of the world's first PEFC-certified harpsichord. The wood used to make the instruments comes entirely from the forests of the Pesarina Valley and its surrounding areas.
