The Water Landscape (R067)

The route branches off from the Tagliamento bike path and begins at the picturesque Lake Ragogna, a glacial lake surrounded by greenery, where you’ll find a panoramic tower and a cozy rest stop. From here, you’ll cycle at the foot of the hills of San Daniele del Friuli until you reach the Majano plain. The route winds through fields, streams, and canals, through an agricultural landscape rich in tranquility and historical landmarks. Among the most significant sites are the Acqua Caduta stream and the ancient Hospitale di San Giovanni di Gerusalemme, founded in the 12th century by the Knights of St. John of Jerusalem and once a place of welcome for pilgrims. You’ll cycle along the FVG 6/a branch of the Tagliamento Bike Path and the FVG 7 branch of the Friuli Bike Path. A short detour takes you to the Acqua Caduta biotope and the ancient Jewish cemetery. The return to Lake Ragogna brings to a close a route that combines nature, history, and authentic landscapes.
