The ascent from Ovaro to the Sella is a true test of endurance: a relentless 10 km climb with gradients constantly above 10%. The most challenging section, from Liariis to below Malga Pozof, features an extraordinary average gradient of 14%, with peaks up to 18% – a real trial for bold cyclists. The climb slightly eases in the section of the 3 tunnels under the Sella (7% average gradient), but before reaching the summit, there is still a challenge: 500 m with a gradient higher than 12%. Conquering the "Kaiser" has become a real "must" for cycling lovers.

    Author’s recommendation

A proper muscle warm-up is recommended, starting from Tolmezzo or the villages along SS52bis or SR355.
