Route of the 16th stage of the 2020 Giro d'Italia. The main challenge is the short but steep climb to Monte di Ragogna, which starts from the locality of Muris.
This linear route on asphalt road runs through quiet and low-traffic landscapes. The main challenge is the short but steep climb to Monte di Ragogna, which starts when you reach the locality of Muris on the Tagliamento Cycle Path FVG6.
The climb features a "wall" of 275 m elevation gain over about 2,800 meters of route, with an average gradient of 10% and peaks of 14-15% on the hairpins halfway up. This section challenged the cyclists who, during the 16th stage of the 2020 Giro d'Italia, faced this climb three times in a row. Dominating the Tagliamento, this passage was fortified over the centuries and still bears witness to the battles of the Great War. It is also possible to explore Ragogna castle, as well as forts, trenches and marked trails. In the village of San Giacomo, the Great War Museum enriches your visit with detailed historical memories.
