Cross-border gravel route loop starting from Trieste and reaching the Val Rosandra Nature Reserve with panoramic views of the Gulf of Trieste
A gravel route starting from Trieste Central Station, passing through the wonderful Piazza Unità d'Italia and along the city’s shores, offering a splendid first view of the sea. The ride continues along Viale Campi Elisi, then, with an elevation gain, to Sant'Antonio in Bosco, a quiet village nestled among the hills. The gravel route crosses the scenic Bosco Stena, where lush vegetation accompanies your ride. Heading towards Basovizza, you cross the evocative Val Rosandra nature reserve, characterized by bright vegetation with vertical flysch walls, large screes, and extraordinary panoramic views over the Gulf of Trieste. The route extends beyond the border, reaching Sežana and then returning to Italy via Trebiciano and the panoramic point of Monte Belvedere di Banne. Finally, it returns to the city along Strada Nuova to Opicina, completing the loop back at Central Station.
