The Friuli Venezia Giulia gravel ride: starting and finishing in Gorizia after traveling 434 km among authentic landscapes, sounds and tastes.
Itinerary
The route is a loop through the vine-covered hills, the plain north of Udine, San Daniele del Friuli and the forests of the Arzino Valley. It creeps into the Carnic Hills Intermunicipal Park surrounded by the Carnic Alps. It returns to the plain after passing through several villages including Poffabbro (Most Beautiful Villages in Italy) and Maniago. The last stage will be a pleasant discovery of the Resurgence landscape rich in Venetian villas and fortresses such as Palmanova and Gradisca d'Isonzo.
Food&Wine
A journey through the mountain gastronomic specialties of Carnia, the Pordenone foothill valleys and the Friulian plain. It starts with the renowned San Daniele raw ham and then moves on to Cjarsons and Frico interspersed with snacks of Pitina (a smoked meatball typical of the Tramonti area) and Asìno cheese accompanied by wines from Collio, Colli Orientali, Isonzo and Friuli-Grave. RECOMMENDED DISH: Frico (cheese and potato dish).
This is a 4- or 6-day bike tour starting and returning to Gorizia. Tour recommended for those who like to travel by gravel.

Be careful on the Madrisio bridge (Tagliamento River) south of San Vito al Tagliamento and on the San Gottardo bridge (Torre River) near Udine.
There is very little traffic on the roads. Be sure to have the necessary equipment with you to deal with any technical problems.
There are intermodal points (Bike+Train and Bike+Bus) in stages 1, 3 and 4.

By train, Gorizia train station (Venice-Udine-Trieste line) can be reached in about 2 hours from Venice.
