Route
The start of this cycling route is from Cormons and winds between the waters of two rivers: the Judrio and the Versa. Along the route, you cycle through the Isontina countryside, among rows of vines, meadows, and rural villages. On the Medea hill stands the Ara Pacis Mundi, from which you can admire a suggestive panorama. The monumental complex, built in 1951, preserves clods of earth coming from the 800 war cemeteries in the Italian territory, as a symbol of those fallen in all wars.
Food & Wine
From the heart of the DOC Collio wine production area, you cross into the DOC Friuli Isonzo territory, known for its white wines such as Friulano, Malvasia, Riesling, Traminer, and Moscato, and for reds such as Refosco dal peduncolo rosso, Cabernet, and Pignolo.
Recommended dish: Gorizian goulash with potatoes in tecja.

To reach the Ara Pacis Mundi you must face a short climb.
For the more trained, this route can be combined with the Collio-Brda Classic loop (R014).
Public-transport-friendly
Regional trains (Trenitalia) can transport bicycles along the Trieste - Udine - Venice route.
In summer, the BiciBus service is active, a bus towing a closed trailer for 40 bicycles: - from Cormons to Grado with stops at Gorizia, Gradisca d'Isonzo, Redipuglia and Monfalcone
From Udine or from Gorizia - SR56. In Cormons, follow the signs for the railway station.
Near the Cormons railway station. On via Alcide de Gasperi, there is a large free car park.
