The renowned excellence of San Daniele del Friuli is the prosciutto di San Daniele DOP (Protected Designation of Origin), a raw ham of great delicacy that is the result of artisan workmanship handed down for centuries. Another renowned product is the smoked trout known as the Queen of San Daniele, cold-processed and with a delicate flavour.

Itinerary:
The route explores hilly terrain suitable for families with well-trained youngsters aged 10 and over. It crosses the Tagliamento river at Cimano and follows the Tagliamento cycle route (FVG6) between Cornino and Pinzano. At Pinzano we cross the river again on the spectacular bridge and ascend towards Monte di Ragogna. Having reached the end of the climb at S. Giacomo, descend towards San Daniele. After the village of Pignano di Sopra, a short diversions along Via del Lago is recommended to reach Lake Ragogna, an ideal place for a picnic.
After the Cimano bridge, it is worth making a diversion to visit Lake Cornino and the nature reserve that is home to a nesting colony of griffon vultures

Circular route with several ups and downs on an asphalt road open to vehicular traffic with no traffic.
The route runs at the foot of the San Daniele hill. We recommend climbing the hill to visit the historic centre to see the frescoed Church of Sant'Antonio Abate and the Guarneriana Library dating from 1466.
San Daniele del Friuli can be reached by TPL FVG bus service (no bicycle transport service).
