A bike route at the foothills of Monte San Simeone, crossing the characteristic medieval village of Venzone and areas of wildlife and natural interest.
Route
Starting from Venzone, cross the Tagliamento River and cycle along the old military road. Near Cavazzo Carnico, descend to Lake Cavazzo, or the Lake of the Three Municipalities, the largest natural body of water in Friuli Venezia Giulia, where you can rest in the equipped picnic areas. Continue to Alesso and Braulins and arrive at Bordano, the famous butterfly village, from where you return to Venzone.

In the summer period, Lake Cavazzo is a very popular bathing area where it is possible to rent rowboats or pedal boats to experience the lake from a different perspective.
Public-transport-friendly
Venzone (Carnia Station) is reachable with the Train+Bicycle service on the Udine-Tarvisio line. It is a mandatory stop for all trains, including the special MiCoTra train that runs between Udine and Villach (A) along the Alpe Adria cycle path.
