A scenic bike route for the whole family: from Gemona del Friuli to the walls of Venzone, between the Prealps and the Tagliamento River.
The route starts from Gemona del Friuli, a symbol of rebirth after the 1976 earthquake and considered one of the most beautiful historical locations in the area. The ride continues north toward Ospedaletto, a historic hamlet that once welcomed pilgrims on their journey and where the ancient Cocconi Mill is still located today. The Prealps create a scenic backdrop that embraces the cyclist along the route, while the family outing continues accompanied by the Tagliamento River, the king of alpine waterways and a faithful companion of the excursion.
Finally, you reach Venzone, one of Italy's most beautiful villages and the only fortified 14th-century settlement in all of Friuli Venezia Giulia. Here, with its surrounding walls, it is impossible not to feel like a medieval knight.
It is possible to return to Gemona del Friuli by regional train or by bicycle along the same route.
