The route tells the story of the mountain pastures of Val Resia. An easy path through beech woods will lead you to discover the stavoli of Provalo and the high altitude pastures.
The Via degli Alpeggi is one of the thematic trails curated by the Val Resia Ecomuseum. The itinerary starts in the hamlet of Oseacco and leads to the stavoli of Provalo, where one of the best-preserved pastures in the area can still be found. The route allows you to fully immerse yourself in the former Resian life, when families moved together with their livestock to the Provalo high mountain pasture during summer. A planina is simply a cluster of mountain huts surrounded by meadows for grazing.
Along the itinerary, a series of information panels (in Italian and Resian) will let you discover many aspects of past life and especially why such a remote and inconvenient place was chosen for bringing animals to mountain pastures.
The route is a loop that can be walked in both directions. The version proposed here is counterclockwise, ensuring a gentler ascent to the stavoli and a descent that, although steeper, offers more panoramic views toward Monte Canin and Val Resia.
To experience a complete experience of the uniqueness of Val Resia, the following visits are highly recommended:
The itinerary is accessible all year round and is especially suggestive in autumn with the foliage and in winter with the snow (with the appropriate experience).
