Medium difficulty circular route to the Tornidor Spring, a rare geological feature, and the Monte Cjastelat where you can enjoy a spectacular panorama.
Start from the Piancavallo Infopoint and turn left into Via Barcis up to Hotel 1301 Inn. Near the hotel take the service road that runs along the football fields and continue up to Casera Capovilla. Take the path of the Tornidor Spring CAI 925 following the white-red markers. Upon reaching the spring, continue to the right going up towards the Piancavallo-Barcis road. The path crosses a rare geological feature: the Tornidor conglomerate, above which the Tornidor spring flows. Pass by the Pian delle More basin and go down along the road for about two hundred meters.
Take the second forestry road on the right, CAI sign 971. The path, cool in summer and bright in winter, climbs through the beech forest until reaching a large clearing at the intersection of paths CAI 915 and 985. During the ascent, a forestry road interrupts the path; pay close attention to the white-red markers on the left. Take the CAI 915 path with moderate incline, crossing a beautifully intact area frequented by roe deer, deer, rock partridges, and black grouse.
From the summit of Monte Cjastelat, you can admire a vast breathtaking panorama. Return to path CAI 915 and continue towards Pala Fontana. After an initial stretch inside the beech forest, you reach the ridge that connects Cjastelat to Pala Fontana. From Pala Fontana, the descent begins which meets path CAI 988 near the Forcella di Giais. Turn right and continue to the intersection with CAI 985. Turn left onto path CAI 985 towards Casera Caseratte. After a gentle ascent the path continues in a pleasant descent up to the hut. Upon reaching Casera Caseratte, follow the white-red signs for the Malghe Walk. Shortly, the large sinkhole is visible again. Cross the forestry road and resume the original path up to Via Collalto and finally return to the starting point.
