The area between Pradielis, Lusevera and Micottis presents several reasons of interest related not only to naturalistic aspects but also to historical-cultural ones.

Within this area is developed the excursion that we propose. It is an itinerary that alternates stretches in which you can observe forests, of which this area is so rich, with others in which you pass through small villages that are particularly characteristic of this part of the upper Val Torre. This is a family-friendly route that can be done easily in any season, bearing in mind that the Val Torre is characterized by a humid climate with abundant rainfall.

The starting point of the hike is the Pradielis footbridge near which there is a large parking lot. The footbridge is disused, but it is possible to continue along the paved road until you cross the Torre stream. At this point turn left and continue straight until you find the path again.

Take an obvious path on the right that climbs sharply through a forest composed largely of broadleaf trees such as maples and ash trees. Near Crastie, a small village near Lusevera that is reached after about twenty minutes of walking, you can admire some ash trees of considerable size. This whole area, in addition to possessing naturalistic aspects of particular interest that differentiate it from other areas, also has very interesting cultural and ethnic value as can be appreciated in the Ethnographic Museum of Lusevera.

The route continues past the sign indicating the village of Crastie, through the small hamlet, climbing a flight of steps that reaches the paved road. After turning left, the path now continues along the road leading to Micottis. From here on, the view is drawn to the rugged and wild bastion of the Musi, which seen from this area appear even wilder and more impassable.

At the end of the path, having crossed the road, climb up an escarpment until you reach the path that runs parallel and follow it until you meet on the right the path that gradually descends toward Pradielis. In the forest, composed mainly of hazels occasionally associated with a few ash trees, one encounters clearings, probably traces of areas once devoted to grazing. Some of these clearings are invaded by raspberries, which by their presence constitute a source of nourishment for the fauna of the area.

As you descend, after passing a spruce reforestation, the proximity of the valley floor is easily perceived by the roaring of the Torre in the quiet of the forest.

After a short section of steeper descent, the trail reaches a small bridge over the stream, across which it continues in the direction of Pradielis.

    Author’s recommendation

A visit to the Lusevera Ethnographic Museum is recommended to discover the historical and cultural peculiarities of the area.

To complete the visit, it is recommended to taste some typical dishes at local restaurants in the valley.
