The massif of Monte Raut is the southernmost mountain group in the Park; the summit with its 2025 m asl dominates the Friulian plain.
The path starts from the Pala Barzana pass, along the road connecting the Colvera valley to the Andreis valley. In the first section it climbs towards the north. After the first hundred meters of altitude gain the slope decreases. We are at the Periadriatic overthrust. After this area the path goes back into the woods. Continue further north until you reach the ruins of the Pala Barzana hut. Beyond the hut the path crosses the pastures of Raut towards northeast up to a small stream almost always dry (rio Grande). At the level of the stream the path turns north following an impluvium line with increasingly steep slopes up to the Capra pass (1824 m asl). From the pass follow the ridge, first west then northwest; along this last section a rocky step a few meters high must be overcome (iron cord). To the south the plain and the sea, to the west the Monte Cavallo group, to the north the other peaks of the Park.
