Climbing the summit of this mountain represents a cultural, historical, and environmental journey. Monte Forno, also known as the "Monte dell'Amicizia", is located at the border between Austria, Italy, and Slovenia. Every summer its summit becomes the stage for the Friendship Day, an event that celebrates the interculturality of these three nations. For decades, Monte Forno has symbolized the unity and brotherhood among peoples, hosting the Friendship Festival long before free movement across borders was made possible by the European Community. This tradition represents an important occasion for meeting, dialogue, and sharing, reaffirming the historical and cultural ties that unite these communities.
Along the entire loop, views open up onto the surrounding mountains, allowing admiration of the beauty of the Alps amid beeches, firs, and incredible blooms.

    Author’s recommendation

For those who wish, it is possible to complete the loop avoiding the trails and continuing with a bicycle (dirt terrain!) or, alternatively, with a trekking stroller.

The hamlet of Poscolle is not served by public transport, which instead reaches the Fusine locality (about 30 minutes from the starting point of the hike).
