Easy route with a starting point reachable by the Varmost lifts (in summer)
The starting point is Casera Varmost (1758 m), which corresponds to the arrival of the homonymous ski lifts. We turn our back on the lift and take the dirt road descending to the left. After a few dozen meters, we find the sign marking the start of the Sentiero Giovanni Caposassi/Trail 207 to Casera Lavazeit. The trail is a gem: 2.5 km almost flat, with some truly scenic openings on our left - including the possibility, when the sky is clear, to see the Tre Cime di Lavaredo. We reach Casera Lavazeit (1813 m, also known as Val di Valaseit) in just under 40 minutes, managed by volunteers from the village of Forni di Sopra. The hut is half always open: downstairs there is a table, benches, and a stove; upstairs you can sleep by reservation. Return by the same path.
With children, this route is perfect. However, it is possible to continue towards Forcella Tartoi (more challenging but not difficult) and descend to Malga Tartoi, on the loop of the Forni di Sopra mountain huts.
