The route, which starts from the village of Tramonti di Sopra, reaches the Lago del Ciul and the path that runs alongside it. The itinerary follows the course of the Meduna stream, with considerable length and gentle slopes, in a wild environment where the emerald pools, the remains of the ancient village of Frassaneit, and the silence of the Meduna channels can be found.

From Tramonti di Sopra, follow the signs for Frassaneit, Lago del Ciul, and Emerald Pools; the main road gives way to a forest trail that penetrates the Meduna Canal until it ends at a square, from where a wide mule track starts, leading shortly to a steel bridge (Ponte Rusubet), from which you can admire the waterfall created by the Rug (Rio) della Ira and the Emerald Pools. Attention is drawn to the huge semi-submerged boulders that, blocking the normal course of the river, help to create delightful small lakes, partly formed in circular cavities by the same erosive action of the waters. You continue at altitude alongside steep walls and after about an hour and a half from departure you reach the first two houses of Frassaneit di Sotto, the only currently renovated dwellings. The village of Frassaneit is divided into the fractions of Sotto and Sopra. Until the postwar period, about a dozen families lived in its houses, many of whom also spent the whole winter there. Continuing the route along the mule track, you first cross the small bridge over the Rug del Giavòns, from where, looking towards the mountains, it is possible to admire the Frascola Eagle, an imposing rock formation reminiscent of the shape of a great bird of prey. You reach the Frassaneit bivouac, created by renovating the former school building, and the cluster of ruined houses of Frassaneit di Sopra. The path, smaller in size, reaches the dam and Lago del Ciul. Now the route, without crossing the dam, skirts the lake, passing the Rio della Val Curta and reaching the wide inlet of the Canal Grande di Meduna, which is crossed by a pedestrian footbridge. Beyond the footbridge, the path allows access to the natural terrace of Selis, where the ruins of another abandoned village, periodically submerged by the lake, are visible.
