Easy and scenic hike at the gates of Claut, at the top of the hill overlooking the village.
We start walking from Conca Verde of Claut (606 m asl). We follow the walk along the Ciàdula stream, make a small hairpin bend and follow the road that crosses the houses of the village up to the San Rocco Chapel. We take the road to the right of the chapel (facing it), ignore trail marker 384 and begin to climb the paved road. We cross the bridge over Ciafurle; at the second hairpin bend, we take trail 385 which branches off to the left (660 m). We arrive at Stalla Piais (773 m) and follow the trail making an elbow turn. Continuing at elevation, we arrive at a three-way junction where we take the right, ascending to a saddle (840 m) with a view of Claut. We continue climbing and reach the summit of Col dei Piais (876 m) and the chapel dedicated to San Gualberto. To return to Claut, return to the saddle, take the trail on the right (still 385) which descends to intersect the paved road leading back to the village; upon reaching the San Rocco Chapel, following the ascent path, return to the starting point.
This hike can be the antechamber of the San Gualberto Ridge Trail, a more challenging (but also very rewarding) route that allows you to enjoy a beautiful high-altitude walk starting from the village.
