Short route starts at the Piancavallo Infopoint. From the Piancavallo entrance roundabout, take Via del Cansiglio going slightly uphill. Take Via dei Rododendri to the right for a short distance and then turn left onto Via dei Ciclamini, passing through the beautiful houses of the area.

At the end of the road, the CAI 994 trail starts to the right and the 990 to the left. Continue on trail 994, also called the Path of Memory, dedicated to partisan commander Maso who died here in combat on April 12, 1945, just days before the end of the war. The path briefly follows a forest road before entering the woods. Going downhill, you reach the border between the municipalities of Aviano and Budoia. Cross the Piancavallo-Cansiglio ridge and continue until you reach Casera Sauc, almost completely hidden by vegetation growth.

Follow the sign indicating the link between CAI 994 and 990. Descending through the splendid beech forest, you quickly reach the CAI 990 trail. Turn left onto this path, ascending gently through Val de la Stua. Cross again the Cavallo-Cansiglio ridge and, one hundred meters to the left, take the path back to the starting point from Via dei Ciclamini.
