The Italian Celestial Route crosses Friuli from the sea to the mountains, "connecting" Aquileia to Monte Lussari, which hosts the Sanctuary. It is 220 km long divided into 10 stages, but with a prologue from Barbana. The pilgrim reaches the island of Barbana by ferry from Grado. The first two stages, after Aquileia, arrive at Cormons crossing the eastern Friulian plain. From Cormons you immerse yourself in the vineyards of Collio to reach the sanctuary of Castelmonte. After passing Cividale, you encounter the hills of the Friulian foothills at the border with Slovenia, to arrive after 9 days of walking at Valbruna. The last stage leads to the sanctuary of Lussari at 1780 m above sea level, also known as the sanctuary of the three peoples, where people speaking and living different languages and cultures meet: Latin, Germanic and Slavic
