Exhibition "Japan. Bodies, memory, visions"

Description

The Trieste exhibition aims to bring together a core of works by contemporary Japanese artists around three themes—Memory and Identity, Body and Bodies, Reality and Vision—who, through the use of images, offer a broad overview of the current Japanese photography and video scene, from dialogue with the masters to the research of new generations committed to reinterpreting Japan's recent history, questioning gender issues, the everyday, and sometimes using the body as a political medium. While 20th-century Japanese photography has long been characterized by a strongly identitarian and self-referential language, today we are witnessing a significant shift in direction: many young and established artists take as their reference not only the complexity of their own country, but also global changes, building a close dialogue with Western-based themes such as gender issues, collective memory, social relations, the environment, and the perception of the image.

Opening times: from Tuesday to Sunday 10 am - 7 pm. Closed on Monday. Open on Monday 6th April
Tickets: full price 8 Euro, reduced 5 Euro.
