58th Ed. Barcolana

Description

The Barcolana 58 will take place from October 2^nd to October 11^th2026 ten days of huge festivities on land and at sea, with over 300 events that include sailing, water sports, culture, art and social and educational activities all based on the theme of the sea.

The start is scheduled for 10:30 AM on Sunday, 11 October 2026, with the starting line positioned between Barcola and Miramare. Competitors will sail at a heading of 210 degrees for 4.3 nautical miles to reach the first mark, followed by a 0.90-mile offset leg at 332 degrees. From Mark 2 to Mark 3, located off the coast of Miramare Castle, the course extends for 4 nautical miles before turning back towards Barcola along the coastline for 2.3 miles.

The final phase of the regatta begins off the Victory Lighthouse, where crews will sail at 160 degrees for 1.5 miles to reach the Old Port Breakwater. The finish line is positioned in front of Piazza Unità, marking the end of the race.

PromoTurismoFVG will be among the key participants in the 58th edition of Barcolana, with a wide-ranging programme designed to showcase Friuli Venezia Giulia through the themes of sea and mountains, sailing and skiing, food and wine, culture, music, innovation and inclusion.
The heart of the activities will be in Piazza Unità d’Italia, where the “Io sono Friuli Venezia Giulia” Hospitality Area will feature the region’s wine bar, official merchandising, a Regional Council corner, meetings and institutional events, as well as live music sessions on the lounge terrace.
Highlights of the programme include tastings dedicated to Vitovska wine and mountain cheeses, a panel discussion on the “water castles” of Miramare and Duino, and a performance by Les Babettes.
On Saturday 10 October, Barcolana Ski – Coppa d’Autunno will return to Aurisina, with Kristian Ghedina and Tina Maze leading two teams of young regional athletes. The event will be followed by the awards ceremony in Piazza Unità d’Italia and, in the evening, the m2o Night, featuring dance music and entertainment.
The regional presence will also extend to the sea with the institutional Solaris yacht, a 64-foot vessel branded “Io sono Friuli Venezia Giulia”, the Arca Young project with Marta07, involving students from the University of Trieste and the Nautical Institute, and the collaboration with the Fast and Furio Sailing Team led by Furio Benussi.

From October 2, a rich calendar of events will transform Trieste into a stage hosting a true Festival of the Sea.
