Exhibition NOTRE DAME - Carolina Franza

From February 13, the Sala Comunale d'Arte in Trieste will host NOTRE DAME, a solo exhibition by Carolina Franza, presented by architect Marianna Accerboni. The exhibition explores the refraction of light through ancient pigments with irregular morphology—such as authentic cinnabar red and Naples yellow—capable of generating a luminous vibration impossible in modern industrial colors. The light does not rest on the surface but passes through the material, undergoes micro-refractions, and reemerges as interior space. The title NOTRE DAME refers to the Mother of God and Wisdom, but also to the Madonnas in the stained-glass windows of the great French cathedrals and the Black Madonnas, present in the exhibition with original solutions that dialogue with the icons. All the works, made of fir wood, linen bisso, Volterra alabaster, Armenian red ochre, pure gold, and egg tempera, compose a journey in which tradition becomes contemporary vision and matter becomes revelation, presence.
