A mountain stage that is not very difficult, combining natural beauties with important historical areas such as Mrzli vrh, Tolmin, and Javorca.
The beauty of the Triglavski narodni park still frames this stage, which leads the hiker to encounter, while immersed in lush nature, some important scenes of the Great War. A particularly interesting testimony on this route is the Church of the Holy Spirit in Javorca, a small gem of art and a monument to peace in the spirit of multiculturalism that today can boast the European Heritage Label. Indeed, it welcomed soldiers of different faiths within its walls united at the time of its construction (1916) by their common belonging to the Austro-Hungarian ranks. The route will close in another location known during the Great War: Tolmin.
In Polog it is possible to take the circular route, which leads to the bunkers from the Rapallo border times, the former Austro-Hungarian cemetery, the Polog mountain hut, and descend to the Tolminka river, which is crossed by the "kurukula". At this point, continue to close the loop by heading towards the river source and return to the starting point.
A visit to the village of Zatolmin, which houses a private collection called Mrzli vrh, is recommended.
In Tolmin, it is advisable to visit the Tolmin Museum.
